Each year, Mt. Pleasant Elementary participates in the Parents as Reading Partners (PARP) program. PARP is a literacy-based initiative that expands students’ reading skills and provides an opportunity for students to connect with family members to spend educational time together. During the course of the three weeks, each student was encouraged to read for 20 minutes each night.

This week, students at MTP had the opportunity to watch a performance from Jester Jim, organized by the PTA through their Arts in Education Program. The educational entertainer celebrated the end of Mt. Pleasant’s “READ” month by combining humor, juggling and music to showcase a love for reading and books. The students and family members then were treated a reading session by faculty and staff at MTP and had a chance to shop at the Scholastic Book Fair.

During PARP week, students also created bookmarks and book covers.  Attached are the winners of the Bookcover Contest with Principal Ierano!
