Mills Pond Elementary School was a perfect host for Tuesday night’s Board of Education meeting.
Prior to the meeting, Principal Ireen Westrack took the board members, Superintendent Mark Secaur and Central Office Administration on a tour of the school. First stop was the school library where Principal Westrack displayed a slideshow of projects students have been working on, which included Makerspace ideas and curriculum from Project Lead The Way. The tour continued to the STEM room where specialist Serena Spata discussed the wonderful projects students from every grade have been working on.
Later in the evening, the night took a musical turn when the fifth grade orchestra, led by teacher Thomas Terrett and comprised of students Megan Albanese, Ishaana Pulipati, Emma Ryan, Annabelle Eves and Anabel McCloskey performed for the audience members.
Following the performance, students London Edwards, Riley Burns, Hailey Ball, Yasmina Ismail, Anabelle Eves, Miabella Giorgetti and Charleigh Gaisser, under the guidance of music teacher, Stephanie Messana, gave a preview of the play they will be performing, The Little Mermaid Jr., by singing the song “She’s In Love."
Afterwards, PTA President Nikki Petrocelli thanked Dr. Secaur and the board members for coming to Mills Pond Elementary and said, “we hope you enjoy our tiny but mighty school.”
We did!
