HSW Relay For Life team does it again

June 7, 2023

The Relay For Life team at High School West raised over $125,000 in donations this past weekend at their Relay For Life event held at High School West.

The fundraising event featured team members taking turns walking around the track for a total of 12 hours. Each team was asked to have a member on the track at all times to signify that cancer never sleeps. Cancer patients don't stop because they're tired, and for one night, neither did our students.

Each team continued it's fundraising efforts by collecting donations for food, goods, games, and activities that go to the American Cancer Society. This money counted towards their overall team fundraising goal.

High School West social teacher Dillon Archer said, "This year we want to thank Erin Fels, Maddie Law, Amanda Froehlich, Gracie Carippoli and all Relay teams for all their hard work and dedication to pull off over $125,000 in total donations during the Relay for Life event!"

The four chairs also received a Certificate of Merit from Senator Mario Mattera for their hard work and dedication throughout the year. As a result, High School West has finished as the number one Relay event on Long Island and the team is top-10 overall for the American Cancer Society.

Amazing!
