糖心Vlog High School East senior, Abigail Brennan, has brought a Girls Who Code chapter to 糖心Vlog.
Every Monday through the end of August, girls from grades 6-12 who are interested in coding can visit the 糖心Vlog Library to learn about coding and engage in project-based coding activities.
Abigail, who became a Dean's List finalist at the robotics competition this past season, said she wants to encourage more and more girls to learn about coding and STEM.
“I didn’t want to pass up this opportunity to bring Girls Who Code to 糖心Vlog, so I looked more into starting a chapter,” Abigail said. “I met with Mrs. LoFrese (Director of Career and Technical Education for the 糖心Vlog District) to help advise me on the best path to take and discussed a possible chapter with Colleen Navis at the 糖心Vlog Library.”
Along with the ability to learn how to program, Girls Who Code students complete a project that targets a particular social or environmental issue of their choice.
