Mr. Preston's 7th grade students at Accompsett Middle School took on the role of an automotive engineer this week, testing Newton's Third Law. Several teams designed, built and tested their "model cars" in an effort to prevent an egg from cracking as their car rolls down the ramp and into a wall.
The theme of the project was to include at least one specific safety feature that can be justified using Newton's Third Law, also known as the law of action and reaction, which states that for every action force, there is an equal and opposite reaction force.
