The holidays were a lot brighter for children at Stony Brook Children’s Hospital, thanks to the SCSD Middle School Art Department!
More than 125 laminated bookmarks, approximately 26 framed 5x7 paintings, and a number of paintings on wood plaques were donated to the hospital to help brighten the days of children staying at the hospital.
Each piece is unique and was created by our middle school students. Students had the option to create art for donation during their free time between projects or during extra help sessions. This initiative was strictly for donation purposes, focusing on art for a cause, and students do not receive additional credit for their contributions.
Accompsett Middle School Art Department instructional specialist, Michelle Conte-Maino, lauded the efforts our students, saying, “We aim to give back to our community whenever possible, making meaningful connections outside of the classroom.”
Thank you to middle school art teachers, Stacey Stebbins, Alexandra Yereshchenko, Kristen Dean, Jennifer Fandrey and Michelle Conte-Maino!
