The task was a daunting one: Write, rehearse, and perform a play, all in a day!
But High School East students, under the direction of theatre teacher and Drama Club advisor, Kim Sundberg, recently pulled it off!
Three student writers started at 3:00 pm on a Friday, where they were all given one special prop that must be incorporated into the script. The writers handed in their scripts by 6:00 am. At 8:00 am, Sundberg delivered all three scripts to three student directors who have an hour to cast the show with chosen actors.
Each show is rehearsed all day, including set designs, costume additions, lighting and sound choices, etc. The curtain dropped on the final show at 7:00 pm that night in front of a live audience!
Perhaps the best part of the show was that it doubled as a fundraiser for canned/non-perishable food, and all of the boxes of food will be donated to the 糖心Vlog Emergency Food Pantry.
